On the ground in Memohis

Just landed and making our way to the gate. Carson wanted to pretend to be asleep so he he take a pic as we departed Utah.

Delorian?

Intriguing site at Glacier Int

Concourse C

The view from Concourse C displays the mountains around Salt Lake. C7 is departing to Nashville about an hour prior to our Memphis flight. Our plane just arrived at gate C9. Under an hour now. 3G seems really slow here.

On the Ground

We've landed in Salt Lake. I'm pretty sure we could actually see the lake. Three hour fifteen min layover the two hour forty seven min flight to Memphis.

Delta Connection

Our plane just arrived.

Glacier Int

Gate 2 at Glacier Int awaiting the arrival of our plane to Salt Lake. Small but nice airport. Time for a game of Lego Battles (Nintendo DS).

Breakfast was at Mrs. Spoonovers downtown. It's a small joint that serves breakfast and lunch plus ice cream. One guy was running it. It was pretty small but good food. The guy that runs it said his buddy, from childhood, was lost in the park. He was going on Search and Rescue as soon as he closed at 3pm. His buddy was on the the front page of the local paper. Speculating he was fishing near one of the falls and may gave been sucked in.

Outdoor fireplace at Main Lodge

It's overcast but still beautiful this morning. I had a pretty good workout and once again had the Fitness Rm to myself. It's 35 degrees and feels great after gettin the heart pumpin.

Weather

Just checked the weather for Savannah, TN and it is not what we were hoping for. Today as we traveled into the mountains to Two Medicine it was as low as 38 and Hi of 60. Pretty awesome! Will be glad to be home minus the heat.

Last night in Big Sky Country

Oma & Opa as well as Chad & Laura stopped by to say goodbye and tour the Lodge on Whitefish Lake. We took a few minutes to kick back by the fire. There is a full moon and notice Carson is howling at the moon literally.

Tomorrow we fly out of Glacier Airport at 12:15pm MDT. We have a three hour layover in Salt Lake then on to Memphis ETA 9:30pm CST. We plan on having a leisurely morning then heading to the airport.

Cioppino

Dinner at Cheffey's 2 miles out on Hwy 93 towards Eureka. I chose one of today's specials, "Cioppino". Tomato based fisherman's stew with shrimp, clams, mussels, fish, onions, and more. It was delicious and mire than I could eat. Although I did finish it then rolled out the door.

Former entrance to West Glacier

Laura's Park Office is just up the road. She said this is where she walks most days at lunch.

Goat Lick

Across the hwy from the natural Goat Lick, canyon wall embedded with minerals, was a Mountain Goat. Zoom in on the whit dot in the middle.

Two Medicine Lake

Very spiritual place for the Blackfeet.

Running Eagle Falls

Near Two Medicine

One of their favorites

Village Inn

Village Inn nestled in the mountains. It also serves as a tourist train depot. Many take the train from Whitefish stay here and criss country ski. They have railcars that are setup in the surrounding area as cabins for rent along with the Inn.

Wednesday

Last night we had a snack from McDonalds and let them play on the indoor playground to exhaust some energy. Then we checked out Sportsman & Ski Haus (cool store) then back to the lodge. This morning it's back to McDonalds for breakfast and to Chad and Laura's. Weather permitting, we are going to Two Medicine on the East died of Glacier.

Farmers Market

For supper, we went downtown near the Amtrak station to the Farmers Market. Each Tuesday thoughout the Summer it's a good place to buy fruits, veggies and eat. This was the last night until next Summer. Local eateries were present with BBQ, pizza, kettle corn, soups, fresh melons, cherries, carrots, kale, leek, and much more.

Mylie in Montana?

We drove up to Hungry Horse Dam and Reservoir. That was one more site. Check it out online for photos. On the way back we stopped by two Gift shoppes/eateries that advertised Huckleberry pie, jam and more. The first stop they had murals of celebs and movie characters. Initially, they wanted their pic with Captain Jack but slid them over to Hannah Montana. Cousin Braylon, 4 yrs, thought C&R were going to see Hannah Montana as opposed to going to Montana. Now they can say they saw her.

Quiche

JA and I had Spinach/mushroom breakfast quiche while C&R had pancakes at House of the Rising Sun Bistro. Most everything on the menu has French influence. This place is an older house on Wisconsin Ave. Wouldn't think much of it just driving by.

Now headed to Hungry Horse Dam and Reservoir. Marilyn just texted me and said they changed directions and went to Kalispell due to the heavy rain towards West Glacier.

Starting off right

Been a little lazy and under the weather but started off with a good heart pumping workout today. Their w/o Rm was great. You can see card on that end. The weights, machines with mirrors lining the walls was on the other end.

It's cloudy and breezy this morning...feels great! It may hit 60 today.

Time to Relax

C & R 's idea of relaxing was Hot Tub City.

Pizza!

Ryder has been begging to eat pizza. Instead of Pizza Hut we tried Jersey Boys Pizzaria on the corner of Spokane and East 1st Street in Whitefish. They had cheese and pepperoni while JA and I had veggie. Good pizza. We followed it up with homemade ice cream from Sweet Peaks.

Main Lobby

Ryder found the Grizzly interesting and large.

Whitefish Lake view from the Lodge

Miniature sliding doors

Just checked into The Lodge at Whitefish Lake. As you see, the bathroom has unique sliding doors that open up to the rest of the room.

Northern Lights Drive

We drove up Big Mountain Rd to see the villages/ski resort(s). We stopped and took a pic looking down at Whitefish Lake.

Reception

The reception was back at the Haymoon Ranch Resort. Dancing, finger foods, etc. Carson and Ryder danced off and on for over two hours with two other kids to all the classics....YMCA, Play That Funky Music, Wild Thing, Bohemian Rhapsody, Stayin Alive, Cotton Eyed Joe, and so on. The two other kids they befriended were Laura's Maid of Honor's kids, Lucas and Anna Bell over the past two days.

Chad & Laura

Pictures just before the wedding. Chad, Laura and her Dad (Rob).

Pictures

Lake McDonald in Glacier.

Back to the Buffalo

I had their Breakfast Quesadilla. Green chilles, potatoes, onions, cheese, two eggs and tomatoes with fresh salsa on the side. Delicious! Daddy opted for a shortstack of cakes and Leslie's Breakfast Pie. Carson, Ryder, and Jane Anna went for hotcakes with hot chocolate.

Catching Up

Carson said he was gonna knock out his handwriting before breakfast. Ryder wasn't near as excited but willing.

Today we may try to eat breakfast out again as other meals will be provided and give us a chance to look around. The Trolley is another recommendation.

Rehearsal

The rehearsal went well. The sun came came out briefly and the boys cooperated. BBQ chicken, beans, pasta, tenderloin and cookies.

We have pictures tomorrow at 1:15pm with the wedding following at 3.

Glacier

We drove into Glacier on "Going to the Sun Road" with Oma and Opa. The road closes on Sunday and we now know why. At Logan's Pass, the highest point by road and the Continental Divide, there was snow on the sides of the road. It was also sleeting at Logan's Pass Visitors Center. Carson and Ryder had a blistering snowball fight. The temp was around 42. The kids and Jane Anna slept on the way down the mountain.

Cafe

Elise's Breakfast Pie at Buffalo Cafe

Updates

Updates haven't been posted because AT&T service is nearly non-existent. Verizon is King!

First Light

This is the cabin several of us are staying in at the Haymoon Resort where the wedding will be.

Zero Layover

As soon as we unloaded we sprinted, part of the time, from concourse D to B. Our flight to Kalispell was boarding so we walked right on.

Utes

We are Utes temporarily anyway. On the ground in Utah and entering the gate.

Future pilots?

The Captain invited Carson and Ryder to step inside the cockpit for a look around. They said "It was cool!"

FlightDL2151

Do the Math.

Carson said he was up for the challenge. Math worksheets for next week.

Hungry?

After the rigors of parking, checking bags, security check we were CRANKY and HUNGRY. Jane Anna said it's a close race between Carson and me for who is worse. Ryder had....you guessed it - Pizza! JA went along with Ryder while Carson and I had to get the Ginormous BBQ Sandwich.

Flight Times

We will be departing from Memphis Int Airport at 6:40pm CDT making our way to Salt Lake City, Utah around 9:30 CDT or 7:30 Mountain. Our speed skills and endurance will be tested as our departure time is only 40 minutes after our arrival time. Arrival time in Kalispell, MT is 11:30 Mountain. Claming our baggage and completing any forms for our rental car will be taken care of followed by a 15-20 minute drive over to Whitefish, MT where we will be staying Fri, Sat, and Sun at the Haymoon Ranch Resort (http://www.haymoonresort.com/). Monday will be moving day as we relocate to The Lodge at Whitefish Lake (http://www.lodgeatwhitefishlake.com/?gclid=CN3V9-eyjqQCFdFO2gody39qHQ). This is an absolutely beautiful place that is family owned and ran and has been for some time. It is pricey but Jane Anna did get us a hefty discount through Priceline.

What a Picture!

Glacier Peaks

Did you know there are 6 peaks over 10,000 feet high in Glacier - Cleveland, Stimpson, Kintla, Jackson, Siyeh, and Merritt.
